SELLING VICE CHANCELLORS ON SUSTAINABILITY'S MISSING CURRICULUM if you can help RSVP chris.macrae@yahoo.co.uk

Testing stories from the one page attachment "sustainability 10 truths" to try and convey what the interdisciplinary urgency of global system crisis is ultimately about, including these zeroisation dynamics

-0 the mathematical destruction of free market frame as defined by adam smith and other scottish microeconomists includng 1843 founder of The Economist

0 measures and media sponsored by the big gets bigger,

0 the speculator destroys the compound investor,

0 all of DC's major institutions including congress and FED being majority ruled by wall street banks (an odd definition of democracy and of economics- and of entrepreneurship let alone compound sustainable consequences)

If the 10 short stories are too cryptic, please ask chris.macrae@yahoo.co.uk if you want more information. Bottom right is the Big Ben clock with Yunus' names of the sustainability centres and activities he wants to plant in universities around the world..

DHAKA EN ROUTE TO EVERY SUSTAINABILITY CITY

-slogan discussed with dr yunus at mostofa and my meeting with him last month and debrief of who committed to do what after 69th birthday dialogue June 2009

Since London's colonialism started worldwide externalisation of poverty into the weakest or most knowledge disconnected communities it is high time 2012's sustainability olympics ended. Yunus proposes a parallel sustainability torch race across 2012's sustainability cities and trusts Londoners and youth ambassadors will have organsided as many sustainability events as sports

As Dipal Barua who installs more solar units out of http://www.gshakti.org/  than the whole of the USA says real innovation comes out of desperation.youthdialogue10000.jpg

So it is not a huge surprise that the nation born poorest at the short straw end on both india's and pakistan's independence evolved the world's greatest invention in the early 1970s. That only 1% of the world of yes we can networkers has access to such knowhow says something is terrifyingly wrong -and wholly uneconomic - with education at every level today and as Gandhi and Einstein concluded that means professional monopolies are ruling over the wrong things for humans to be sustainable.   Getting this message's actions out to 5000 youth ambassadors who want to have entrepreneurial mindsets -and design social businesses - like Yunus is a challenge for turning 2010s into a Joy of Life decade instead of wall streets dismal macroeconomics and global system collapsing one. In parallel we need at least 100 global brand ceos to show that global markets can be freed to value their greatest compound contribution to sustainability - joy of banking slideset

For 36 years, stimulated by my first job at the UK's national development project for computer assisted learning networks after an MA at Cambridge, user oriented research of education has been a passion. Today our youth researchers aim to provide the best user guides possible to grameen education experiences Grameen Creative Labs ; Germany Berlin University;  Glasgow Caledonian University;  Rikkyo University;   Kobe University;  Kyushu University; Yunus Centre, AIT, Thailand ; Yunus Forum UK Yunus Social Action Group HEC Paris (pdf) California Institute of Social Business
by interviewing all of Grameen's leadership team, searching out the blossoming satellites of Grameen Education and being the contact point Grameen educators rely in when they are announcing network diaries for the coming year:
  • Next event associate with Grameen's Berlin Uni partner is in Nov 09
  • Provisionally next event for Grameen's Glasgow Uni partner is in Feb 10
Our most recent field visit - Grameen Vocational Training & Employment Agency June 09 as part of our leadership quest celebrating Muhammad Yunus 69th birthday week.   "short review; Mrs Begum, female co-founder of Grameen Bank, is the jewel in the crown of girl power - without her I doubt microcredit would have made its soul sustaining purpose mother's wishes for their children; she has previously organised social business programs providing scholarships to secondary schools, and VTEA is her latest venture. I can well see this franchise replicating extremely fast and about 90% who get a Grameen vocational diploma find themselves immediately in work. The cost of the program to the joining student is about $5 for each student but they do have to demonstrate their acumen by finding their own living space. Grameen aims to start up an employment agency soon both linking its vocational training and finding jobs abroad for those who want to help maximise remittances a core flow in the whole Bangladeshi economy. Once again Grameen looks well on the way to planting one of the most vitally needed and hugely replcable social businesses among youth entrepreneur services anywhere in the world.
If I can personally update you on links around grameen education world
By 2020 content of every curriculum about systems from 1st grade to 12th to undergrad to mba or doc will need to be
wholly different than 20th centiuy content IFour human race is to be sustainable
What became evident in the 00's - USA put its brightest brains on compounding all the least sustainable numbers the world has ever computed- this was globalisation macroeconomics at its maddening crowd's peak and in george soros' word fallible
No young person on earth could want to spend their life learning or prcaticisng any more of ths insane big brotherdom Changing communications, and what makes people distant, bossy, etc Changing national politics Changing economics Changing employment Changing educationbang6.jpg

What is known in 2009- Bangladesh is starting its 6th 7 year plan
- each of these plans has invested in the only mathematically true sustainability investment model which has been called social business by Muhammad Yunus. The only way the world is going to get back on path to millennium and sustainabilty goals is by making bangladeshi's leading knowledge centres more revered than thise in the USA- fortunately Bangladesh is the most open source of nations so apart from swallowing a bit of national pride (not a third millennium network necessary construct anyway)
A note on this web's main blogger: unlike dad http://www.normanmacrae.com/ http://erworld.tv/  who visited Bangladesh as a teenager to elarn economics while his day job was navigating raf planes and then edited Microeconomics most shocking future stories every published by the west's global economics press, my first visit to dhaka was in the new year of 08 when dad had told me to start a network of 1000 students of the only book yet published with bangladesh's or anywhere's sustainability investment models, and 10000 students of a free dvd.

This I did, since our 25 year old scenarios of netfutures are clearly exponentially crashing the wrong way- something that each quarter of wall street's disgrace has made clearer - I assume you dont think the bailout's impacts have even begun to hit us yet-  http://www.epi.org/issues/category/bailout_analysis_project/
if you want to discuss how to tranform trillion dolar markets back to sustainability or be guided around any of the Bangladesh and other microeconomics up curriculum sources I have been tracking these last 25 byears from new zealand to singapore, to lucknow to mexico, and always with dhaka as the epicentre that makes sense of all microeconomics collaborations please phne me -Chris Macrae - in washington dc 301 881 1655 -

Dear  British Council
Nice talking to you. You asked me to summarise the last 18 months of preparing yes we can networks connecting Dr Yunus, and sustainability leaders and Yes We Can youth movements. My aide memoire for post-it network interfaces

 yunw1.jpg

I am US volunteer of http://yunusforum.net/ a program started at the time of the Nobel Prize so that citizens across the world could share knowhow on the Yes We Can community building, Micro Up system designs and sustainability investment models that Grameen microbanking and other leading Bangladeshi worldwide collaboration networks including Sam Daley Harris'  Dc-global http://www.microcreditsummit.org/  networks have developed since the nation's birth in the early 1970s
Last year my main volunteer project was yunus10000 dvd http://yunus10000.com/ given to youth networks. TODAY An immediate task I am volunteering on is developing 5000 youth ambassador network 09/10 as a project actions network around social business franchises (topic of dr yunus' nobel speech)
Youth Ambassador 5000 mainly flows at undergraduate level but feeding up to trusted mentors and feeding into schools worse alumni will be the next youth ambassadors. Lamiya Morshed who leads Dr Yunus Cenre    in Dhaka and Mostofa Zaman are working on this project right now in Dhaka
I am aware of a lot of overlap between core network interests of British Council and Dr Yunus and Obama change agents particularly on climate solutions Grameen's (http://www.gshakti.org/ installs more solar units than whole of usa), and Bangladesh collaborates worldwide with intercultural youth network development (internet and mobile networks for the poor are designed out of Dhaka by http://www.grameensolutions.com/ and http://www.brac.net/) .
Lord Neil Kinnock personally hosted DR Yunus London talk on these collaboration connections on May 29. http://www.britishcouncil.org/new/about-us/75th-anniversary/lecture-series/Muhammad-Yunus/  A month later Sofia in London and I in DC were among co-hosts of Dr Yunus 69th birthday dialogue in Dhaka which the British Council sent their education expert to. Our dialogue also included the BBC's main climate broadcaster Paul Rose who blogged this as well as having deeper meetings with British Council   http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/science/nature/8130130.stm
I phoned you as I try to make connections between networks that are most sustaining the future and both my father who wrote at The Economist for 40 years http://www.normanmacrae.com/netfuture.html and I share Dr Yunus' view that this is humanity's crisis year in terms of microeconomics and macroeconomic systems compounding opposite futures- will we help youth choose the sustainable one? My professional work for 33 years has been on reforming media . So I have the maths to prove that 2 of sustainability world’s favourite brands in 2015 will be Grameen and BRAC and wish to invite youth to test out the other 3 http://worldclassbrands.tv/  !
I would love to help make any links between British Council projects and Bangladeshi ones. From our viewpoint, the first urgent one is Youth Ambassador 5000 - we choose about 30 youth (east coast undergrad leaders of microeconomics include Caitlin and Alexis) to mentor from September 1 so that they can co-create yes we can dialogues during freshers weeks- and keep the momentum going with events that Dr Yunus co-sponsors through 09/10. Major ones include event Saskia's team are hosting in Berlin in November on 20th fall of wall and opportunity to interconnect all sustainability models; Sam’s meeting in Kenya april 2010 http://microcreditsummit.org/  - we look for other major events where youth in particular can connect their inputs from event to event, social net to social net, and across poor and rich hemispheres.
Please ask questions if I am unclear, or feel free to contact anyone else in this email for their deeper inputs. If there is anyone I can meet, phone or email at British Council  to share info please say

thanks, chris macrae Bethesda 301 881 1655
